About Me

Oboist in the Greater Pittsburgh Area

Dylan Evers is pursuing his M.M. in oboe performance at Duquesne University School of Music in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is originally from Omaha, Nebraska and currently studies with oboist of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Scott Bell, who was a student of John Mack. Mr. Evers received his B.M. in oboe performance at the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music in the Chicago suburbs. There, he studied under Deb Stevenson, a student of Ray Still and Grover Schiltz. Dylan wants to pursue a career in music after graduate school through internship, orchestral and chamber group playing, and freelancing. In summer 2014, Dylan was principal for the Classical Symphony Orchestra of Chicago's summer season and has continued to guest appear with them throughout the year. Dylan was also appointed principal oboist of the Wheaton Municipal Band's summer season in 2016. In his free time, Mr. Evers enjoys photography, cooking, exercising, trying new wines and coffee, and traveling to new places around the world.

Teaching Approach

In terms of my own teaching style, five traits that I desire to embody as a teacher for my students consist of being authentic, empathizing with where my students come from, being successfully creative, knowing and mastering the teaching subject, and acknowledging my students' minds, ways, and beliefs. Music making is fun and should be, so expect that to be implemented in lessons! Orchestral excerpts, scales, reed-making, solo repertoire, and etudes are all part of lessons.
