About the teacher
To say that music is a very important part of my life is an understatement. It is my life. Growing up, I was very shy. I was the girl who walked down the hallway trying to avoid eye contact with everyone. My safe haven were the music classes in which I excelled in and found my confidence. I highly believe music affects our well being. I am not idealistic to hope that my work has and will continue to have a positive impact on others. If nothing else, I know my life is more complete for having tried.
Education relevant to teaching music
I studied music at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. My principal instrument is classical guitar and my guitar professor is Mr. Phillip Hii. Studying under Mr. Hii has greatly impacted my musicianship and I hope that I can pass down to my students everything I have learned from him. I started studying music theory in middle school. I was in choir and mariachi. At my university I studied music history, music theory, basic piano, ear training, baroque and contemporary voice.
Teaching philosophy and approach to teaching
I first try to get to know and understand my student. I will teach my students what they are interested in but also incorporate my approach to becoming a great musician which is basic fundamentals, practice, rhythm, and philosophy.
