I am an Instrumental Music Education major from Minnesota State University, Mankato. I live in St Paul and travel all over the Metro to teach band and private lessons. I have taught music professionally since 2010, and have been teaching private lessons previous to that. I love to play all varieties of music, and I also compose and arrange my own music.

Education relevant to teaching music
I graduated in 2009 with my degree in Instrumental Music and Classroom Education K-12 from Minnesota State University, Mankato. While there, I learned from one of the most brilliant conductors in the US, Dr. Amy Roisum Foley, and took private trumpet lessons from the great Dr. Douglas Snapp. I completed my student teaching at Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial Public Schools.
Teaching philosophy and approach to teaching
I like to make learning fun, so I give my students assignments that they enjoy as they learn. I also like to give my students ownership in my classroom, so when choosing music my students will perform I will always consider their opinions. Students will also learn theory and aural skills right along side of playing their instruments. I communicate on the same level as my students to ensure that they understand what I am teaching them, and I believe that involving the parents as much as possible has a huge impact on the students’ learning and practice skills.
