Teaching Children, Adults or Both?
Teaching special needs children
About the teacher
I have been married for two years and have a year old son. I grew up in a large family of nine children. I’m a tidy person but full of soul. I am passionate about music and that reflects both in my education and my personal pursuits. I have played drums and guitar for over a decade and have played with groups of all kinds: church bands, rock and roll, indie rock, singer-songwriter etc… I also write and perform songs for guitar and voice.
Years of experience
1 – 2 years
Education relevant to teaching music
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Music and Film at UW Milwaukee. I studied fingerstyle guitar as my primary instrument and also received a Certificate in Rock and Roll Studies. Before UWM, I studied at North Central University where I took drumpercussion and guitar lessons while studying Music Business.
Teaching philosophy and approach to teaching
I’ve been exposed to a wide variety of musical styles and teaching methods that have helped to shape my liberal view of teaching. I first assess why they want to play the instrument and what music interests them. I would then gear the lessons around our initial meeting, while at the same time introducing new styles and methods to challenge and broaden their perspective and skills.
